Recife’s
Carnival demonstrates the region’s unique
character and origin. (Most residents of the North
East region are of Indian, African, and European
descent.) Its yearly recreation, lasts for four
consecutive days and nights, and demonstrates
the traditions, beauty, relaxation, and spontaneity
of the culture. Also, its one of the few places
in Brazil in which everyone participates “as
one,” joining in the organized jokes and
street dances. This means that class or stature
doesn’t matter, everyone comes together
to have fun. There is no other festival like it
in the world!
In
this carnaval we find the "Caboclinnos",
the "Maracatus", the "Ursas",
the "Troças", the "Blocos
of Carnaval", the "Clubes Caranavalescos",
the "Corsos" antiguos, the "Afoxés",
the "mela-mela", the schools of “Samba”,
and the famous giant puppets. Moreover, there
are the "Mangos Beat", the orchestras
of Pau E Corda, the coconut of "Roda"
and the "Frevo of Metais". .
Also,
you will find the procession of the "Galo
da Madrugada." This “Block”,
whose name entered in the Guinness Book of World
Records, receives a crowd of 1.5 million people
that follow it each year.which The "Galo
da Madrugada" begins on Saturday of carnival,
called Saturday of "Zé Pereira",
and travels the streets of the district of Sao
José during its course of 4.3 km. It is
composed of 30 "Trios electrics" with
45 support carts, 600 bodyguards, and 1500 military
police officers.
